Cheetah Plains is situated in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, world renowned for its big five game viewing. The lodge offers intimacy and exclusivity accompanied by superb service and luxury accommodation.
Cheetah Plains strives to embrace a contemporary ethnic design, with 8 elegantly decorated chalets nestled into the indigenous gardens of the camp. The traditionally thatched accommodation blends seamlessly into the African bush, creating a harmonious flow between pampered relaxation and the raw South African bushveld.
Each of the calming en-suite rooms feature modern amenities including air conditioning, overhead fans, mosquito nets and telephones. The chalets all flow onto the indigenous gardens and their wild surroundings
Chalets 1 – 6 comprise of a bedroom, en suite bathroom (shower only), air conditioning, overhead fan, mosquito net. Chalets 7 and 8 of a bedroom, en suite bathroom (bath and outside shower), air conditioning, overhead fan, mosquito net.
The Bush Cottage
The Bush Cottage at Cheetah Plains offers a “home from home” accommodation solution for up to 4 people – perfect for romantic travellers looking for extra privacy or a family planning a safari.
The cottage has 2 separate bedrooms each leading onto the outdoor veranda and into the lounge / kitchenette area inside the cottage. The shared bathroom includes a bath and shower and there is a separate WC leading off the lounge area as well.

Includes a swimming pool, bar and lounge area, viewing deck, boma. Internet access. Well stocked curio shop. Spa facility.
Children of all ages are welcome at Cheetah Plains Private Game Reserve. Babysitters are available. A child 12 years and under sharing with parents limited to 1 extra single bed per room. Children 6 years and under are not permitted on game drives.
The pool is in a small grove of Tamboti trees and is always delightfully cool. There are two viewing decks over the water-hole.
Resident chef Henry de Villiers has designed an eclectic menu of traditional South African flavours for Cheetah Plains. The buffet style dining embraces the relaxed atmosphere of the lodge, and makes the most of delicious local fare, giving guests a true taste of South African cuisine.
Dinner is served around a roaring fire in traditional boma style, against the natural night sounds of the bushveld. A private dining deck offers a secluded nook for those enjoying an intimate dinner under the African night sky.
An early morning wake up call will awaken you to the magic of an African sunrise. The bushveld surrounds will also be waking up for the day, or settling down for a laze in the shade after a hard night's hunting.
A tracker and qualified ranger will take you through the reserve in specially equipped game drive vehicles and do their utmost to give you the finest game viewing opportunities.
After a hearty breakfast, a bush walk with one of our experienced rangers offers you the opportunity to take a closer look at the natural surroundings.
Discover unexpected surprises like a chameleon perched on a tree branch or view the thousands of birds to be seen in the Cheetah Plains skies.
EVENING GAME DRIVES
Setting out into the bushveld as the breathtaking African sun starts to set is the perfect time to spot the predators that prowl the Cheetah Plains.
A qualified guide and tracker will be on hand to find any elusive creatures. Stopping for a sundowner, you will have the opportunity to take in the dramatic African sunset view.

Cheetah Plains is actively involved in the surrounding local communities of Utah and Dixie. Guests are offered the opportunity to visit these neighbouring villages and gain insight into the rural South African way of life.
From meeting the village elders to seeing the schools, the exuberance and enthusiasm of the villagers is often catching.

Recommended self-drive route from Johannesburg:
Depart Johannesburg via the N12 highway and continue to Witbank which then becomes the N4 highway, continue straight, through Middelburg and on towards Belfast. Switch to the R540 to Dullstroom, continue on through Lydenburg, Origstad and through the Strydom tunnel. On approaching Hoedspruit take the R531 to Klaserie, Acornhoek and then follow the signs for Sabi Sand to Gowrie gate. Follow directional signs to the camp. Cheetah Plains is approximately 12 kilometres from Gowrie Gate.
Recommended self-drive route from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport:
Take the R40 to White River, Hazyview, Bushbuck Ridge and Acornhoek. Then follow the signs for Sabi Sand to Gowrie Gate. Follow directional signs to the camp. Cheetah Plains is approximately 12 kilometres from Gowrie Gate. The reserve entrance fee is approximately R110 per vehicle and R20 per person.
Johannesburg to Cheetah Plains approx. 6 hours (approx. 500 km). Nelspruit to Cheetah Plains approx.
3 hours (approx. 250 km)

Cheetah Plains Bush Weddings cater for the couple that seek an intimate celebration of their nuptials. You can choose a ceremony at the lodge to include just yourself and your spouse or include a few friends and family in your special day. Alternatively choose the option of having your wedding in the bush surrounded by the beautiful landscape of Cheetah Plains Private Game Reserve.
Photographer for 3 hours, who will provide the couple with a CD with all their pictures. If they would like a wedding album or anything extra made, they can contact the photographer directly & she will assist them.
The minister (who would like to email the Bride and Groom directly regarding necessary documentation for the ceremony)
